It’s basically the holiday that won’t end. Christmas is still going on for me – I have more gift exchanges this weekend with grandparents. But the main events are over and I’m back into the regular swing of things at work, and have even hit the gym a few times to sweat out the booze and pork. All systems go.
This was probably my most active holiday season ever. We saw so many friends and family members and I have a little toddler running around trying to injure himself at all times. It was fun and tiring and I’m already looking forward to it again. Ten months to prepare sounds about right.
Some photo highlights of fantastic food and wine below. Hope you had a great holiday season too. Let’s do it again this year.
Rowdy’s power move dessert – crispy biscuits, cooked apples, Jeni’s salted caramel ice cream
the biggest seafood tower ever
There is an Iberico ham hanging in my parent’s pantry and I hit that swine up often
Our friends in Greenville from Barcelona have invited us for the holiday the last few years and Alba and her family are excellent and creative chefs. Gazpacho gelee was incredible.
Cantonese style sous vide pork belly
Patatas bravas topped with Alba truffle, bravas sauce, espuma
Beau Soleil oysters
Babbo style beef cheek ravioli with liver sauce (cooking with friends Aaron and Matt)
Wines were had. Many were fantastic.
Holiday dinner at Umi. It feels like a special occasion place, and they did a great job. Packed, as usual.
Just so you know, it’s not all champagne and caviar and truffles. Sometimes at 1AM, with a tall glass of bourbon, I keep it real.
