Wine Bloggers Conference, Food Edition

in dining out, out of town dining, wine in the city

I have a few small wine posts to put up in the coming days, and I may even try my hand at a quick video, but for now some food pictures will have to hold you over. Dirty just posted a quick video for your viewing pleasure as well.

West Coast food always impresses me, from the inexpensive & delicious taquerias, to the decadent and progressive tasting menus of famed chefs. My previous trip out west, to San Diego, was an incredible food trip, but NorCal gave San Diego a run for its money. See my San Diego post here.

I don’t have any pictures from Scopa, but that may have been the best meal we had in Healdsburg. Tripe in spicy red sauce, grilled peaches, and grilled romaine with the cleanest white anchovies I’ve ever tasted was incredible.

Clearly, the food in Sonoma/Napa is something to behold, and we haven’t even gotten to the wine yet…

  • Sweet pics of the food, Jimmy. How was Cyrus overall? We heard it is quite expensive as we debated on going… loved that lamb sammich at Bovolo’s!

  • Joe

    (gargling noises)

  • Wow, “feels good to be a gangsta” nothing like a good Office Space quote. Hardy is not living it up enough… He has crammed more wineries into his latest tour than anyone I know… But a hell of a nice guy. Actually very cool guy. Glad he scored the job.. I just want to hang with him for the free food!
    Cheers

  • That’ a lot of good eating!

  • Jimmy

    Ed –

Cyrus was good, but you may want to ask Hardy for more info…

It WAS pricey, but obviously very unique. I would say Scopa would be your best bet for the combination of value and amazing food. A few fun white Italian varietals to try too.

Hope you are enjoying the rest of your time out there!

This food all looks amazing! Did you eat all of this?!? If so, how long were you there?

  • Sarah –

    I ate everything I could!

I was there Thursday through Monday.

  • Dennis

Great shots of the food Jimmy.
Had a great meal at Dry Creek Kitchen last year, but missed Cyrus.

Looks like a good time, despite having to hang with that knuckelhead Hardy :-)

  • Enjoyed your beautiful postings and photos.
