Bone Garden Pozole

January 4, 2016

Bone Garden Cantina is very close to my home, and I find myself enjoying it more and more, and subsequently craving it more often. I live even closer to Nuevo Laredo, but to me Nuevo only satisfies a specific craving – when I need a bunch of chips and salsa and some sloppy Tex/Mex food. I like Nuevo, […]

Bartaco

October 5, 2015

It’s lame that I want to start every post I write with an explanation of why I don’t post anymore. I always hated reading blogs that do that. I’m trying to find ways to juggle family life, grad school, and work, and I’m making some progress. I even got to cook this weekend – breakfast for […]

Nuevo Laredo – Tortas and Stuff

May 29, 2015

Nuevo Laredo is right by my house, but I don’t go often as it gets crowded and parking can be difficult, and waiting around the parking lot with a one year old isn’t much fun. There are plenty of Nuevo detractors (they still rock the No Meredith Ford sign in the window) but it scratches an itch. And […]

Superico Fundido

May 13, 2015

After a few visits, I can say I really enjoy Ford Fry’s Superica at Krog Street Market. I don’t like the puffy taco for which they keep saying they are so famous, but everything else has been very solid to delicioso. The chips and gratis salsas, the margaritas, the patio, service, enchiladas, crunchy tacos, and the […]

Superica

March 9, 2015

Here are a a few shots and thoughts from a recent pilgrimage to Krog Street Market, this time visiting Superica, the latest in mega-restauranteur and fancy lightbulb enthusiast Ford Fry’s collection. The fourth full-service restaurant surrounding the bustling food hall, Superica is the sister restaurant of Avalon’s The El Felix, both a Tex-Mex homage to the Houston and Austin styles of Mr. […]

Pendergrass Flea Market Food Court

February 10, 2015

If you find yourself on I-85 about half way between Atlanta and Greenville on a weekend, there is quite the interesting shopping opportunity and food court at the Pendergrass Flea Market. The flea market is part shopping mall, part yard sale, with a dash of state fair, and they happen to have a thriving food court, […]

Taqueria La Oaxaquena | El Norteno

April 9, 2014

Taqueria La Oaxaquena in Jonesboro. Worth the drive. I want to go back with a few people and try a bunch of things, including another tlayuda, for which they are known. Yes, it’s even better than a Taco Bell Mexican Pizza. And the white corn tortillas used for the tacos are some of the smoothest, best […]

Himalayan Spice – Agora Midtown – Mi Cocina

February 16, 2013

Made a visit to Himalayan Spice with this guy. I had no previous notion of Nepalese food, which unsurprisingly bears much resemblance to some Indian dishes. Read Brad’s post for details. I’d share the badam and bhatmas again, but it’s a bit repetitive for one person. Dumplings – plump and juicy – check.
