Gu’s Bistro

February 19, 2015

It had been a while since I’d been to Gu’s Bistro, the popular Sichuan restaurant on Buford Highway, with a soon-to-open dumpling stall in Krog Street Market. Gu’s has always been a little more approachable than the temple of assburn which initiated so many of us in Atlanta – Tasty China. It’s friendlier. Cleaner. Yvonne […]

January 2014 Gavage

January 23, 2015

Eating here and there. Jigae and pancake at So Kong Dong. My favorite for Korean stews. My first visit to the new location of Cafe Agora. The mixed maza platter is the jam. She-crab soup at Canoe for brunch. Murky and delicious. My brother nails a rib roast. Chicken laksa at Mamak. I’m no Malaysian […]

Mamak

December 31, 2014

salty egg & mustard green soup @ Mamak As an occasionaly dutiful blogger, I keep lists of things. Post ideas. Dishes I really enjoyed. Food I want to cook. China Village Restaurant

September 26, 2014

Let me start – I was sad. I tried to visit Gu’s Bistro for lunch last week and they are on vacation for a few weeks. I really wanted fish and tofu in hot oil or something else fiery and comforting. I thought about going to Chong Qing but noticed there was another place even […]

Batavia

May 8, 2014

Last year Brad from Creative Loafing wrote an article about Batavia on Shallowford off Buford Highway, in the old space that used to be Delicious Kabob. When he suggested it for a recent lunch meet-up to swap blogger gossip, I didn’t know what to expect, but it’s turned out to be a destination I’ve constantly craved since. The space […]

Taqueria La Oaxaquena | El Norteno

April 9, 2014

Taqueria La Oaxaquena in Jonesboro. Worth the drive. I want to go back with a few people and try a bunch of things, including another tlayuda, for which they are known. Yes, it’s even better than a Taco Bell Mexican Pizza. And the white corn tortillas used for the tacos are some of the smoothest, best […]

I Would Eat That [Terra, Bocca Lupo, One Eared Stag]

July 12, 2013

These are the things I like to eat right now. Freshness. Lighter composition. Bright flavors. Herbs and grilled things and summer. This is Banh Xeo (crepe) with pork and shrimp at Nam Phuong. Rocks. Also had the Banh Hoi Bo Nuong La Lot – the do it your self rice paper wraps, this version with beef […]
