Atlanta Pizza Days Update
WHERE’S THE PIZZA POSTS? That’s what everyone has been asking. Ed. Note: Not really, one person asked
A broken toe has screwed up my training plans, and I am having a hell of a time working this pizza off and I feel disgusting. At this point I really just want some home cooked meals, or perhaps an awesome smoked salmon sandwich at Dynamic Dish like the one I ate yesterday. Yes, they do have meat sometimes.
But I promise to finish up all the pizza posts this week; there are only two more destinations left!
I actually have a cooking post I want to throw up, but when I read Blissful Glutton’s post regarding my friend Broderick’s new blog Savory Exposure, I thought this could be a good time to introduce you to some great sites and throw some love their way. With that, I bring you…
ATL Sites/Food/People That Rock!!!
- The Blissful Glutton – Written by Jennifer Zyman’s, Bliss’ site is the most popular and drool-worthy food blog in the ATL. Jennifer has some killer finds, taste representative photos (unlike my photos which disrespect the craft), and I think she’s an ATL food trendsetter. She also writes for the Creative Loafing.
- Running With Tweezers – Food stylist and CL Lust List member Tami Hardeman’s site featuring creative, healthy, and fantastic looking food. This week was soup week on her site, and right now she is featuring the Souper Soup Challenge, so check it out, and enter the challenge if you’re up to it. Tami was also featured in the AJC recently. Side note – if you are into soup, it’s soup month on Kitchn.
- Savory Exposure – The new blog by Broderick Smylie features depressingly awesome photos (read: his photos aren’t depressing, it just makes me sad how much mine suck) and is an instant hit. I look forward to more posts by Broderick. His talent has not gone unseen – the Wall Street Journal recently featured one of his photos from Woodfire Grill (link).
- Dirty South Wine – My favorite wine blog, it is funny and succinct, yet thoughtful wine commentary. Never pretentious, Hardy never waxes eloquent or bores you with fermentation, yeast, or brix trivia. The post frequency has kicked up and I expect a lot from DSW in the near future. If you ever have the chance to meet Hardy, he is one of the nicest, most knowledgeable, and fun guys to hang out with. And he never makes you feel bad for not knowing as much about wine as he does, which by the way, you do not.
- Chow Down Atlanta – In my eyes, Chloe is the undisputed queen of Buford Highway and Duluth. She literally drives up and down Pleasant Hill looking for new openings. Chloe puts a lot of work into her site and it is a must-read.
- Foodie Buddha – The site is only 2 months old, but it is instantly one of the more populated food/restaurant blogs in Atlanta. Buddha is on point, covering all the latest spots in the ATL, with unabashed candor. I love his style and his food tastes, and he ends up beating me to the punch on a lot of topics. A hot new spot has opened within the last two days? FB has been there already, and reviewed it in detail, no punches pulled. Check it out for sheezy.
- Atlanta Dish – The lovely ladies over at Melissa Libby & Associates offer up a wealth of information regarding the ATL dining scene. New restaurants, deals, and hot spots…their site is one of the best ways to stay current on what’s what in the ATL.
- Eat, Drink, Man… A Food Journal – Another ATL and personal favorite. A hybrid of cooking and dining out of a caliber I could only hope to aspire, Gene offers up a few posts a week with fabulous pictures and extremely well written descriptions. If you are not reading it now, please do so.
- Live to Nibble – Cathy is always on top of the best places to eat in Atlanta, and I think she has really good tastes. Be sure to check out her site to get some great inspiration for dining destinations.
- Adventurous Tastes – Similar to Live to Nibble (maybe I just think that b/c the sites look similar?), I definitely enjoy Lindsey’s site, which offers ups great dining detail and seemingly covers all the great places to eat in Atlanta.
All of these people put so much effort into these sites, mostly for zero pay. They do this because they love food and enjoy being able to share their passion with others. Take a few moments each day to visit their site, discover something new to cook or a new awesome dining destination, and pass it on!
